What is OPTIFAST?

OPTIFAST  shakes, designed to support weight loss. Each serving provides valuable vitamins, minerals and protein, while helping you to limit your calorie intake.

Could I experience side effects or tolerance problems related to OPTIFAST?

If your new diet contains a very different amount of fibre compared to what you are used to, it is possible to experience some digestive changes such as a change in bowel habit, bloating, or flatulence. As you adjust to your new plan this should settle down. If you experience persistent, severe or worrying symptoms, we advise you to seek advice from your GP

Should I take a vitamin and mineral supplement in conjunction with OPTIFAST?

When used as a total diet replacement OPTIFAST provides all the nutrition you require, and there should be no need to take additional supplements. If you have a diagnosed deficiency or take prescribed vitamin or mineral supplements, we recommend you speak to your GP to decide if you need to continue these.

 

Do you recommend medical supervision whilst taking part in the programme?

When following a total diet replacement plan, OPTIFAST should be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional such as a pharmacist, doctor, or dietitian. Medical conditions and medications must be taken into consideration prior to deciding if the programme is appropriate for you. As well as this, research has shown that having the support and guidance of a healthcare professional is important in helping you to stay on track with your plan.

 

Can anyone use OPTIFAST programmes?

OPTIFAST programmes may not be suitable for everyone. If you take regular medications, or have a medical condition it's very important to check with your GP before embarking on intensive diet and lifestyle changes.

Will I regain weight when I stop using OPTIFAST products?

By keeping an eye on your weight regularly, you can get back on track quickly if you do notice some weight gain. Continuing your new healthy diet and lifestyle habits is very important when you finish any weight loss programme. Keeping a food diary can help you to spot clues to any possible weight gain.

Can I use OPTIFAST products while pregnant or breastfeeding?

No, OPTIFAST products are not suitable for use while pregnant or breastfeeding. We strongly recommend you seek advice from your GP if you are concerned about your weight gain during pregnancy.
